Why You Should Not Use Plastic Tabs Devices, Velcro,
Hook and Loop, Nylon Straps or Metal Braces

These products simply do not supply the level of protection necessary during a major natural disaster. They are quick to install, but do not hold up under the stresses of even a moderate earthquake, tornado or huricane. They should not be used for securing major items of furniture (bookcases, armoires, etc). While they may offer some protection to smaller items during a relatively minor earthquakes, they simply do not have the strength to survive a substantial disaster.

Evaluations of installed velcro and plastic systems after the Northridge earthquake revealed the inherent inadequacies in the systems. The use of steel braces and "L brackets" have also proved to be inadequate. Since the steel braces and "L" brackets cause the item to be mounted rigid to the wall, there is no tolerance for movement thus causing stress that allows the item to be torn lose from the wall. Steel braces can only be mounted to the item with screws. Screws are easily torn from the items frame and are commonly torn away from the wall also.

Experts estimate that up to 75% of injuries during the Northridge earthquake were caused by falling objects or furniture. Secure Quick Fasteners can dramatically reduce the dangers of a large scale seismic disruptance.

To solve the inadequacies in products currently available we have engineered the Secure Quick Seismic Fastening System for furniture and equipment. The Secure Quick Fastener works by fastening an item to a wall by placing our special braces on to the stud located inside the wall and then lacing a steel cable through the interior frame of the items structure. This method allows for maximum strength and is easily disengaged for relocation and service of the furniture or equipment. Our steel cable harnesses are strong. Period. Our steel cables and patented fasteners are rated at up to 1,000 pounds test. Fasteners are sized according to the size of the item to be secured. If your walls still stand, things attached to them by our harness assemblies will also still stand. More importantly, they will be far less likely to become deadly projectiles in an earthquake. You will be safer, and your losses may be substantially reduced.
